Event Benefiting Reading 2100: An evening with a Legend of Steam: Ross Rowland, and a Brief T-1 Kit Update

On Saturday, September 21st, 2019, American Steam Railroad Preservation Association, Inc will be hosting an event, An Evening with a Legend of Steam: Ross Rowland, to benefit the ASR’s “Fire Up 2100” campaign for the restoration of Reading locomotive 2100. Brick Model Railroader will be attending the event to display our LEGO® model of 2100 and support the restoration.

From the American Steam Railroad Website:

“Join American Steam Railroad on Saturday, September 21, 2019, starting at 4:30 pm for an extraordinary event. Legend of steam, Ross Rowland will give a presentation about his career in railroad preservation from his early days to the American Freedom Train and Chessie Steam Special, along with how he was involved with our locomotive, Reading 2100. Tickets are $99.00.”

Those of you who follow Brick Model Railroader regularly will know that we have been working on our first full steam locomotive kit, the Reading T-1, of which 2100 is a surviving example. American Steam Railroad has been a invaluable resource, providing much historical information and allowing us access to 2100 to gather reference photos and other details. In return, Brick Model Railroader will be donating a portion of our sales from our upcoming sale of the Reading T-1 kit to the Fire Up 2100 campaign.

Brick Model Railroader is excited to say that we will be attending the Ross Rowland event later this month. We plan to have our model of Reading T-1 #2100 on display along with some other BMR models, as well as info on our various kits. We are honored to be invited to this event and we look forward to a fun afternoon and evening. Please consider attending the event, and if you do, please stop by and say hello to your friends at Brick Model Railroader.

So what about that kit?

We have been hard at work since our last major update in August. Since then, we’ve been grinding out the last pieces to the puzzle on producing our first full kit. We have encountered more setbacks and discovered new problems to solve, but the good news is that we seem to be a the end of the hardships. Our instruction book will be ready to edit within the next week and we will begin putting together a final price for our kit. A detailed article, explaining the complete offering and options for the kit, will be available once pre-orders are open.

When can you expect an announcement on a date for pre-orders? Let’s just say that we plan to do more than just show off our model at the Ross Rowland Event in two weeks. But for now, here are some pretty renderings to enjoy.

Final version of our Reading T-1 model, shown here with Rambles adornment. Lettering, numbering, and striping is absent and will be printed on the correct parts.

Play well.

Cale & Glenn
