The PF train motor operates at very high speeds. Our T-1 will run plenty fast enough while hauling a long and heavy train. You can look at the announcement article we made earlier this year for the video of the locomotive in operation. It handled the train you see with ease.

I don’t have any new information from 4DBrix about this, in fact I haven’t heard from them in a while. Nothing that I know of exists for American builders yet either.
Sorry for the negative answer.

I believe the author has closed his Flickr account. I will see about getting the photos from him to upload directly to our website, but I haven’t heard from him in a while.

Thanks, Vincent!
Yes, I used a remote from one of the new City train which also use Powered Up. The Disney train can pair to it an operate just as the City trains can.

It’s a seldom opportunity that we are able to review a new official LEGO train set here on Brick Model Railroader. But, at long, last, we have again been blessed with a new train, even if it has a well-known […]

Great review, Glen!
Another site specifically stated that you cannot operate this train with a remote, and you stated that you can. Did you ACTUALLY use a remote from one of the City sets to operate this train? If you did, I am buying this set.

Nick,
The T-1 operates via PF remote and a PFx brick. Instructions to configure the PFx properly will be included.
The T-1 can just barely navigate R56. We recommend R72 or greater.
It uses 2 PF L motors.
Hope this helps!

We were using some Reading passenger cars built by a former PennLUG member. We’re planning to release a combine and coach to accompany the T1.

Of all the designs which I regard to be “almost unattainable” in terms of LEGO modeling, those of Sir Nigel Gresley are perhaps at the top of the list. Probably one of the greatest locomotive designers of all […]

I’ll be honest. Building models for BMR, such as the NMRA and Brickworld exclusives, the bulkhead flatcar, and now six versions of an extended vision caboose, has been fantastic. I wouldn’t trade this experience […]

Excellent Job Glenn! You’ve got a fine looking locomotive.

That is a beautiful model. Would you be willing to share the CAD files for the number plate and connecting rods? I would also love to know some details about what Shapeways materials you used and how you finished the 3D printed elements. For instance, did they need to be sanded, primed, then painted?

Not quite a year ago I ordered the boxcar and hopper instructions. Naturally I wanted to find a good Reading steamer to pull them. So after a little research I decided on a T1. I was actually planing a trip to Steamtown USA to take some pictures of theirs when BMR made the announcement that they would be making a T1 kit. I have been waiting for the pre-order to go live ever since. The final model looks spectacular.
My only question is why is the pricing options not listed in the announcement?
Thank you!
You should be able to see the price ranges on the product page in our store.
When I went to the order page I mistakenly thought it was the same as the description as in the announcement. Silly me. I found the relevant line this time. Thanks.
Do you know how long it will take to receive an order form after you place the order?
We always ship orders as soon as we have all items in hand and ready to go- pre-order items take longer, of course, but current products are items we have on hand and can send out quickly.
