Indeed. It’s still one of my favorite LEGO train layouts, and I consider it one of the high points in scale LEGO train modeling.

Yes! This is a beautiful layout, and an excellent example of using techniques to move from “brick built train” to “model railroad”. There are a lot of great things to study on this display.
