Our Inaugural Convention

Brick Model Railroader has been going far and fast since our launch. We’ve been really happy with how far we’ve come and grateful for all the support from the LEGO train community. But, as with our models, we are always looking for the next step to take.

Brick Model Railroader is loading up and getting ready.

Brick Model Railroader is pleased to announce that we will be represented at Philly Brickfest 2017, namely by Cale Leiphart, Glenn Holland, and Nate Brill. This is our first convention as an entity, so we wanted to start things off right, but I’ll cover that in a moment.

So what exactly is Philly Brickfest? It is a Brick Fest Live Event coordinated by Learn With Bricks LLC. This group puts on numerous LEGO conventions across America year-round. Philly Brickfest 2017 will take place from April 20th to April 23, 2017 at this address:

Greater Philadelphia Expo Center

100 Station Avenue, Oaks, PA 19456

There will be numerous events such as derby races, mosaic building, mini golf, and a lot more. There will also be a chance to shop for new and used sets, and custom items too. And, of course, there will be plenty of MOCs to check out. PennLUG will be there with their train layout as well, which is likely where you’ll find us BMR guys most of the time. Tickets are available by clicking on the first link above (Philly Brickfest 2017).

So, us here at BMR have some things up our sleeves. We are pleased to announce that we will be selling our first instructions: the BMR Boxcar! We wanted to test something new, and make these special, so these are what we a calling Premium Instructions

PennLUG Train Crew, posing in front of the BMR car, while in Red Lion PA.

These instruction kits will include a nice set of printed instructions, including an article about the boxcar prototype as used on many railroads decades ago. It will also include all custom parts used in the model, which includes Brickarms elements and pre-installed ball bearings for the trucks. All you’ll have to do is provide the bricks. Our first run is going to be limited to 20 kits, available both online and at the event, on a first-come-first-served basis. We will be selling each kit for $30. We will create a post when we have officially launched the kits for sale, detailing how you can order. We will also create another post when we run out, but we will be accepting pre-orders for our next run.

Brick Model Railroader has also been working on creating t-shirts. These shirts are primarily going to be for contributors of the website, but we are also going to be taking orders for shirts, starting the first day of Philly Brickfest 2017 (April 20). These shirts will feature the signature BMR wheel logo on the front left, as well as a cool image on the back, shown below.

Concept image, final design may vary.

We won’t be shipping these shirts until after the convention, so we order exactly what we need from the shirt supplier.

Brick Model Railroader is excited to start offering shirts and kits for sale. Doing so will allow us to grow, which in turn allows us to do more exciting things like create new kits, and a lot more. Once again, we appreciate the continued support of the community and we look forward to launching kits and shirts. Stay tuned for more info!

See you in Philly!

  1. Very happy to hear about the availability of the BMR boxcar. Any project date of when on-line ordering will go “live”? Sadly, I will not be able to get to Philly for the show.

    1. We will open the online and in-person orders at the same time sometime during Philly Brickfest. An article with full instructions on how to order will be posted at that time.

Don’t worry if you miss out on the first run, we’ll have a list of pre-orders for the next.
